Northern Counties Builders Federation
NCBF was established in 1898, bringing together companies within the Construction Industry to meet and discuss issues and concerns of the day.
From examining the archives, those issues and concerns weren't dissimilar to those we have today:
- Tender Costs
- Wages and Conditions
- Government Policies
During the ensuing years NCBF became the Regional Arm of the National Federation of Building Trades Employers and following NFBTE's metamorphosis, the NCBF became a stand alone entity in 1992.
Over the years NCBF has accumulated a portfolio of assets which has given them a solid investment potential. These funds have been invested in conjunction with the NCBF's financial advisers and from this, dividends are received.
Members of NCBF agreed that the income received should be used in a variety of ways, including:
- to promote the construction industry and NCBF members
- to encourage training within our industry
- to reward achievements
- to promote working safely.
Although not an exhaustive list, NCBF and its members are passionate about the Construction Industry and wish to bestow reward on those willing and able to promote the benefits of a career within construction.
Current donations have been given to North East Colleges
- towards their prize ceremony
- the development and promotion of Health & Safety training
- Regional Institute awards events
- school campaigns to keep children safe and away from construction sites
- NVQ 2 and NVQ 3 training for Member Companies
- to the Builders Benevolent Institution
- to the NCBF Golf Society
Further donations are under consideration.
The NCBF Management Committee is interested in receiving suggestions for financial support from individuals or organisations, provided it is within the training field. Their decision is of course final and support cannot be guaranteed.
NCBF is also interested in recruiting new Members and for a nominal fee, currently £100, you will receive first hand details of the initiatives and how your Company could benefit.
Members are also asked for suggestions on how NCBF's income could be used and details of any initiative in which you are involved that may require financial assistance.
Those interested in membership should send their details to the contact address.
